Friday May 13

10am - 3pm :  SSHSA members are invited to spend the day at Mystic Seaport.

3pm - 4pm :  Behind the scenes tour of the library and collections hosted by new SSHSA board member Paul O'Pecko.  Please be prompt as this is a one-hour guided tour. 

5:30pm - 7:30pm : Captain's Circle reception hosted by SSHSA board member Dave Pickering. 

Saturday May 14

10am - 10:45am : SSHSA Annual Meeting.  

11am : SSHSA Board of Directors Meeting

12:15pm : Lunch

6pm : Ship History Center opens.  Parking is available in the southern lot behind the center. Signs will guide drivers in. 

6:30pm :

  • Cocktail hour and silent auction at SAMI  at 2480 Post Road (next door to the Ship History Center).
  • Tours of SAMI facilties ongoing. 

7:30pm : Guests are invited to dinner. 

8:30pm :

  • Dessert & coffee is served.
  • Live auction.
  • Speaker: Commander Everett Hoard of the RMS Queen Mary

 

Sunday May 15

Members and guests are encouraged to explore the many museums and sights both in Rhode Island and the New England area.  Some suggestions include: 

Herreshoff Marine Museum - Bristol, RI

The Mansions of Newport - Newport, RI

Redwood Library and Atheneum - Newport, RI

Griswold Inn, display of maritime art - Essex, CT (Public Art Tour is at 3:30pm)

The Marine Museum at Fall River - Fall River, MA

US Coast Guard Museum - New London, CT

New Bedford Whaling Museum - New Bedford, MA
